We often do trips north to bring dogs south. When this happens, we transport them in our FTH van and crates. Before we can use these crates for the next trip, we need to clean them. The van too!
This is a great way for high school volunteers to gain their hours! We do clean with a bleach mixture, gloves are provided, but please wear clothing with keeping this in mind. Please let us know if you can help.
Meet & Greets
We have a large number of meet and greet days to show our dogs looking for homes. These are an essential way to get our rescue dogs shown and finding them the perfect home.
We are always in need of extra people to help out on these days. Whether you can volunteer for the whole day or just a couple of hours, we welcome you. Please let us know if you can help.
Nearly all of the dogs we rescue come from remote northern communities, accessible only by air. The majority first have to be flown to Thunder Bay and then have to be transported to Barrie. If you are coming through or from Thunder Bay on your travels and would like to have one or more rescue dogs keep you company, please let us know to see if there’s an opportunity to help.
If you would like to volunteer to drive several dogs for all or part of the journey from Thunder Bay to Barrie, please contact us. We will reimburse fuel expenses (to a maximum of $250) when we receive the original fuel receipts. Keep an eye on our Facebook group for other volunteer driving opportunities.
Have a great idea or suggestion for a new fundraising opportunity? Finding Them Home is always looking for new creative fundraising initiatives. Let us know if you have something you think may be up our alley.
