As a board we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the countless volunteers who have given so generously of their time and talents to help rescue over 3,600 dogs from a very uncertain future (and in many cases no future at all) and to give them the best chance at a ‘good’ life. We are also very thankful for the many supporters, both individuals and corporations, who provided the financial means to make this possible through donations and fundraising efforts.

A special thank you goes to all the FTH fosters, past and present, who looked after the rescues while they received vet treatment and until they found their forever homes – without you no dogs would have been able to be rescued. And of course we want to thank all those adopters who welcomed these dogs into their forever home – we trust that you felt as blessed with your new companion(s) as we felt with being able to see that happen. We are also thankful for the relationships that have been established with people of many First Nations communities as we worked together to help reduce the over-population of dogs in those communities. And last, but not least, we want to pay tribute to the staff at veterinary organizations that have provided such awesome care for FTH dogs and accommodated our many emergency and last-minute needs. While the list is long, we want to especially highlight Barrie Veterinary Hospital and Aldergrove Veterinary Clinic.

We’re very happy to report that most of the dogs remaining in foster care at the time of this announcement in Sept. have found forever homes, and the few that didn’t are continuing in foster care with other rescues.

Tax receipts were issued for all eligible donations received in 2022. All outstanding FTH debts and liabilities were paid, and remaining funds and property were distributed or disposed of to rescues which are qualified donees (as described in subsection 149.1(1) of the Income Tax Act).

A new Facebook group – ‘Found Them Homes’ has been set up where dog lovers can continue to post updates on their FTH dogs and stay in touch.

It’s been a very rewarding 10 years and we feel privileged to have met and been associated with so many wonderful people with the same passion. We’re sure that many of you, like us, will continue to be involved in the ongoing mission of finding ‘them’ homes.
