On March 4th, Finding Them Homes held our first annual Northern Paws for a Cause gala. It was a lofty undertaking, but our amazing supporters did not disappoint! 133 guests joined us at the Lions Gate Hall for food, entertainment, and a silent auction. Guests were treated to swag bags from Pet Valu Angus and Aurora, ensuring that no one left empty-handed.
Casal Catering treated us to an amazing meal of roasted sirloin or chicken topped with peppers, spinach and balsamic glaze or stuffed peppers, and finished with a warm apple blossom drizzled with caramel sauce and icing sugar (yum!!!)
Sharon Sims-Cerswell of Saphire Event Décor transformed the hall into a beautiful glowing sanctuary, and James Krant of Krant photography captured it all for us. The Cathy Korpi Band provided live entertainment and kept the party rolling. AJ Cerswell of Sugar City Cupcakes donated 72 sweet and delicious cupcakes to the event which sold out quickly.
Cindy Cherry of the Don Cherry Pet Foundation was also in attendance to present FTH with a
ceremonial check following their amazing $2600 donation.
Another highlight of the evening was the silent auction. The highest bid came from Haley Houle, who won a weekend at a cottage at Tamarack 1 (donated by the generous Tania Ton Liu). FTH’s resident vet, Pauline Van Veen, stalked the solo skydiving course all night to make sure she was the winning bidder. We are pleased to say that Dr. Van Veen will soon be scratching this item off her bucket list! The auction also included a table full of sports memorabilia, which was a huge hit with many of our male supporters.
All told, the gala raised $4300.79 (in addition to the Don Cherry Foundation’s $2600 donation mentioned previously) towards helping Northern dogs. Thank you so much to everyone who attended, who donated, who contributed in any way to help make this event a success! We are so proud of how this gala turned out and we can’t WAIT for our 2nd Annual Gala to come around!
We truly have the best family of supporters out there. Thank you for continuing to make what we do possible.
