Happy Monday Dog Lovers!

This past weekend was a busy one for Finding Them Homes! With the help of our awesome fosters and volunteers and the generous support of the Wasaga Beach and Barrie (Wellington St.) Pet Valu locations, 9 dogs were able to get paws on and help us sniff out their furever families.

Meet & Greets are important because they can mean the difference between a dog waiting in foster care for weeks or getting out there and finding a family in as little as a matter of days after coming to us. Sometimes people aren’t actively searching for a four-legged addition to their family, but then they meet the right dog and just know. It’s hard to find the perfect fit for your family from a few sentences and pictures online. Finding Them Homes gets that. We know that all dogs have unique quirks and personalities and we want potential adopters to have the opportunity to see those when deciding which precious pooch they want to bring home.

After melting hearts this weekend, Romeo has since been adopted!

We held two Meet & Greets this weekend; the first was on Saturday at the Pet Valu in Wasaga Beach, and the second was on Sunday at the Pet Valu on Wellington Street in Barrie. The same 9 dogs were featured both days: Romeo, Rumour, Lucky, Cypress, Bruno, Makoose, Myken, Slater, and Cooper. If you don’t see some of those names on our “Available for Adoption” page, it’s because they’ve since been adopted! The event garnered several adoption applications and with any luck, these nine dogs will all be settling in comfortably with their new families before the next Meet & Greet rolls around!

Another reason we love Meet & Greets so much is that it gives our dogs a chance to socialize. Socialization builds confidence and helps expose them to experiences they may be unfamiliar with. Our dogs were able to interact positively with everyone they met this weekend, including adults, children, and each other.

For any potential adopters out there, we would like to mention that we do not do “on-spot” adoptions. If you attend a Meet & Greet and would like to adopt one of our many amazing dogs, you will still need to fill out an application and follow our standard adoption procedure. We know how excited you are to bring your new family member home and that’s why our many volunteers work extremely hard to process every application as quickly as possible.

Finally, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge a few outstanding businesses! Four Pet Valu locations (Orillia – Fittons Plaza, Wasaga Beach, Barrie – Wellington St and Bayfield St) have all been collecting donations for their “Thanks for Giving” October campaign for Finding Them Homes. We are so fortunate and grateful to have the continued support of Pet Valu.

To see how YOU can help, check out the “Contribute” button at the top of the page. Like our Facebook Page  to stay up to date on all upcoming events like our highly popular semi-annual online auction, kicking off soon!

Thank you everyone for your continued support. We couldn’t do this without you!
