FTH Pups – Future Talent of Hollywood?

See what I did there?

Once upon a time, just a few short years ago, we were simply a small group of friends trying to rescue and rehome Northern dogs. No one could have guessed that this mission would have found us on a celebrity-laden guest list one day, but, insanely enough, that day arrived!

It’s no question that our proximity to Toronto provides us with opportunities that more remote rescues may be unable to access. Usually, however, this means better accessibility to potential adopters, and greater visibility within local communities.  That all changed the week of September 8th to 12th, when Finding Them Homes (namely, the pups of FTH), were invited to attend a private event at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The event was hosted by People, Entertainment Weekly, and Instyle magazines and included a star-studded guest list.

If you’ve ever wondered if celebrities are as obsessed with cute and fluffy puppies as the rest of the world, allow us to set the record straight: they most certainly are! Jessica Chastain even threw off her sweater and plopped herself right down on the ground to get as close to the puppy action as possible. Someone mentioned that seeing all of these amazing celebrities playing with puppies really humanized them, and we have to agree. It’s so easy to put these stars up on a pedestal, but at the end of the day, they are still as puppy-obsessed as the rest of us!

Honestly, we are still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that little old us got noticed by such an exclusive industry. For the past 5 years we have been trying to spread awareness throughout Ontario about the need to assist Northern communities with veterinary accessibility and wild dog over-population, and all of a sudden we found ourselves with an international platform. It was an opportunity we are still pinching ourselves over.

To TIFF, People, Entertainment Weekly, and Instyle: thank you, on behalf of every single one of us (both human and canine), for giving us a chance to share our message. This was an unforgettable experience and we are infinitely grateful for it.

To each guest who stopped to visit the puppies and hear us speak (but mostly visit the puppies, we get it!), thank you for taking the time to chat. Every person we are able to share our message with is a step in the right direction.

And finally, thank you to all of you; the adopters, fosters, drivers,

volunteers, donors, group members… no involvement is insignificant. Each and every one of you has contributed to making Finding Them Homes what it is today. These opportunities come our way because of your support. You have made FTH a rescue force to be reckoned with and people are taking notice! None of this would be possible without you and we feel so fortunate to be a part of such a supportive rescue community. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us! Thanks for being part of this crazy ride.
