We are a registered Canadian charity!

Finding Them Homes is authorized to provide tax receipts for qualified donations with a value of $25 or more. Charitable Income Tax Receipts

As of July 21, 2014 Finding Them Homes – James Bay Pawsitive Rescue was registered under the Income Tax Act as a charitable organization, and as such is eligible to issue income tax receipts for qualified gifts, either money or goods*The organization is obligated to adhere to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations regarding the issuance of all tax receipts. Failure to comply could result in the revocation of our charitable status.

CRA provides the following definition: income tax receipts are issued to donors who make gifts to registered charities. A gift is a transfer of property (usually cash) where the donor receives no benefit in return. The donor is the source of the gift.

We are pleased to provide a tax receipt for all gifts with a value of $15 or more. Income tax receipts are issued early in the year following the calendar year in which the gift is made. In order to issue a valid tax receipt, we must have the donor’s complete name (including middle initial if there is one) and full mailing address.

You can help us reduce our administrative costs by providing a valid email address. We will then email your tax receipt as soon as it has been prepared.

Finding Them Homes – James Bay Pawsitive Rescue can issue income tax receipts under the following conditions:

  1. Gifts of money whether made in cash, by cheque, or credit card.
  2. Pledges, once the pledge has been fulfilled and the gift is received.
  3. Gifts of goods upon pre‐authorization by FTH-JBPR.

Finding Them Homes – James Bay Pawsitive Rescue is unable to issue tax receipts under the following conditions:

  • Purchases of raffle tickets, admission tickets, fees and merchandise. Income tax receipts can only be issued to those who have not received a product or benefit in return for their donation.
  • Gifts of services (not property therefore not eligible for a tax receipt).
  • Donations made to cover initial vaccine and microchip costs.
  • If a person collects funds from a group of people, and then writes an individual cheque for the full amount. Tax receipts may only be issued to the individuals who donated the funds once their full name, address and postal code have been provided.
  • If a person buys an item or product and the retailer states that a percentage is being donated, the customer cannot receive a tax receipt for the funds (percentage) being donated
  • Donation receipts may not be issued for sponsorships where the sponsor receives a benefit such as advertising or promotion in return for the donation. Revenue Canada’s position is that the donor must deduct these sponsorship expenditures as business expenses.

Note: Above is a brief summary of CRA rules which are subject to change. View the Finding Them Home tax receipts policy for further detailed information and links to relevant Canada Revenue Agency websites.

Allocation of Contributions

The chart shows how Finding Them Homes has used the funds from donations and fundraising events that have been entrusted to us. Please contact us should you have any questions.

The majority of our expenses are related to providing veterinary care (examinations, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, urgent surgeries, micro-chipping, medications, etc) for rescued dogs. Our next largest expense category, travel and vehicle expenses, is related to costs incurred to travel to and conduct vet clinics in northern communities, and to cover approved expenses when volunteers rescue dogs from remote communities, often on an emergency basis.

PRIVACY POLICY: Finding Them Homes – James Bay Pawsitive Rescue guarantees that we do not under any circumstances sell, trade or release the organization’s donor list.

100% of all donations are used in Ontario.
