Dog Therapy

On December 5 th , our Pasta litter visited students at the Orillia campus of Georgian College as
they prepared to commence exams. While a first for Finding Them Homes, this is a regular event
run by the Georgian College Students’ Association (Orillia campus) each semester to help
support students during their stressful exam period.

With many college students on their own for the first time, some leaving behind beloved family
pets, dogs can provide an amazing emotional support to those in need of it. In fact, multiple
studies exist that demonstrate the calming effects dogs can have on those experiencing high
levels of stress and anxiety.

We were so excited for the opportunity to help support so many students during the stressful time
that is exams, and hope we are able to repeat the experience in the future.

Special thank you to Vicki Ball and Miranda Green for organizing this event, Phoebe Richards
for assisting, and of course Georgian College (Orillia Campus) for hosting us.
