It literally seems like yesterday that our family, freshly relocated from a cross-country move, was driving down back roads trying to find Finding Them Homes’ 1st Annual Halloween Walkathon. At that time our fur family was only at two, having adopted our first of two FTH dogs a couple of weeks prior as a friend to our current dog. We were late, but we made it, and that was one of our first glimpses into just how strongly bonded the FTH family truly is! Fast forward what feels like 5 minutes to last year, when I sat down to write a blog for the 2nd Walkathon… and now here we are, 2 years later, and the 3rd Walkathon has come and gone. The costumes get better, the prizes get bigger, and the smiles just keep getting wider!
On October 29th, humans and pets alike donned their costumes to hit up Barrie’s lakeshore for a 5 km walk. Despite some wind, the weather was beautiful, making the experience that much more fun!
Thanks to some very generous sponsors, we were able to give away some fantastic prizes (because what good is dressing up if you can’t win something for it??) and we also raised an amazing grand total of $2620!
The donations we collect go to cover costs like dog food and veterinary services for rescues in foster care awaiting adoption. As most of the dogs we rescue are feral, they come to us requiring varying degrees of medical attention. 100% of all donations go towards the care of these dogs, meaning that the more we raise, the more dogs we can rescue.
Remember those great prizes I mentioned earlier? Well they wouldn’t have been possible without donations from these Halloween heroes:
The Hound Lounge- Kelsey Lyne
Pet Valu- Riitta Kerasiotis & Lauren Wellman
Centre Stage Photography – Renee Altenburg
The Beauchesne Group
Remax – Sarah Coppard
First Choice Haircutters – Julie Ray
Thank you to everyone who donated and participated to make the 3rd Annual FTH Halloween Walkathon a success!
As always, check out our website (www.findingthemhomes.com) if you are interested in adopting, fostering, donating or volunteering.
As you know FTH is 100% nonprofit so every penny goes towards finding dogs happy homes. We could not do this without the continued support of all of you.
